直埋式保溫管其導熱系數(shù)為：λ=0．013—0．03kcal/m·h·oC，比其他過去常用的管道保溫資料低得多，保溫效果進步4~9倍。再有其吸水率很低，約為0．2kg/m2。吸水率低的緣由是由于聚氨酯泡沫的閉孔率高達92%左右。低導熱系數(shù)和低吸水率，加上保溫層和外面防水性能好的高密度聚乙烯或玻璃鋼維護殼，改動了傳統(tǒng)地溝敷設(shè)供熱管道“穿濕棉襖”的情況，大大減少了供熱管道的整體熱損耗，熱網(wǎng)熱損失為2%，小于10%的規(guī)范請求。

直埋供熱管道不需求砌筑龐大的地溝，只需將保溫管埋人公開，因而大大減少了工程占地，減少土方開挖量約50%以上，減少土建砌筑和混凝土量90%。同時，保溫管加工和現(xiàn)場挖溝平行停止，只需現(xiàn)場接頭，能夠大幅度縮短工期。由于減少了磚、水泥、砂石、余土等的運輸，從而減少了施工過程中汽車尾氣排放量、揚塵量、噪聲排放量，從而維護了環(huán)境。
